A Texas dog’s painful encounter with a porcupine turned into a story of community support, as Abilene neighbors came together to help Deuce recover from his injuries.

The dog’s owners rushed Deuce to the Callahan County Veterinary Clinic, where veterinarians removed more than 315 quills. Facing unexpected veterinary costs, the family shared Deuce’s story online, and community members quickly stepped in with donations that covered the entire bill.

After the bill was covered, community members continued to support Deuce’s recovery. His owner thanked neighbors for their generosity, and Deuce has since returned home, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
