Ranger, a lost dog from Kansas City, has gone viral, gaining more than 1 million views in less than 24 hours as people across the U.S. work to reunite him with his family.

Ranger was brought to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City as a stray on Aug. 28 without a microchip. More than 15,000 people have shared his story in hopes of identifying his owners.

The shelter is using Ranger’s case to remind pet owners about the importance of microchipping and keeping registration details updated. Anyone with information about Ranger’s family is encouraged to contact the shelter, which offers microchipping for $32.
