Martin County Fire Rescue in Florida has welcomed Mango, a Dalmatian and its first therapy dog, to support firefighters’ mental health during stressful and traumatic calls.
Gifted and specially trained for emotional support, Mango visits fire stations and will also assist during critical incident debriefings to help crews process difficult experiences. Officials say his presence helps reduce stress, encourage open conversation, and support long-term PTSD prevention among firefighters.
While known for being gentle with people, Mango is still a playful dog who loves chasing squirrels and dislikes lizards.
