Six newborn puppies found abandoned in a pink camping bag outside a Walmart have been reunited with their mother after a police investigation.
Authorities located the mother dog and brought her to the McPherson Animal Shelter, where the puppies immediately began nursing and cuddling with her.
Police identified a person of interest and have forwarded potential charges to the city prosecutor. The investigation into why the puppies were abandoned is ongoing. The mother and puppies will remain together at the shelter while the puppies await adoption. Officials have not yet determined whether the mother will be returned to her owner.
