A celebrity dog in China with over 1.5 million social media followers was reportedly stolen, sold for about $26, and later killed and eaten, according to reports.

The 8-year-old Border Collie named Chutou, known for accompanying travel influencer Guo on cross-country road trips, had become a well-known online personality.

The incident allegedly occurred while Guo was traveling abroad, leaving the dog in the care of family members on a farm in Henan province.

Two individuals on an electric scooter reportedly abducted the dog, later claiming they mistook him for a stray despite its collar and GPS tracker.

The case has sparked outrage on Chinese social media, with renewed debate over pet theft and animal welfare enforcement. Authorities have not confirmed all details publicly, and the investigation is ongoing.
