A border collie was rescued from a 10-foot-deep sinkhole in Chiefland, Florida, after falling into the pit early Friday morning. Chiefland Fire Rescue responded to the emergency around 5:55 a.m., launching a challenging rescue operation.
Firefighters and volunteers worked to reach the trapped dog, using a mini excavator before switching to hand tools when solid limestone blocked further digging. At approximately 8:19 a.m., the dog’s owner called out to her and successfully pulled her to safety.
The dog was reported to be uninjured and in good spirits following the rescue. Officials thanked the rescuers and volunteers for their efforts in bringing the animal safely back to its owner.
