Gustave the Girl Dog, known as “GG,” won her second consecutive Corgi World Championship at Emerald Downs in Auburn, Washington.
The Seattle-based corgi, owned by Alicia Wen and Dustin Embrey, started from post position seven and faced a strong field of competitors.
Mr. Corgington of Palm Springs took an early lead, but the race changed when organizers added 10 yards to the course. The longer distance gave GG a chance to use her endurance and close the gap. In a thrilling finish, GG surged ahead in the final strides and passed Mr. Corgington just before the finish line. The comeback secured her second straight championship and reinforced her reputation as a top corgi racing competitor.
