Dogs, cats, birds, snakes and other animals gathered at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Sunday, October 4, for the annual Blessing of the Animals.
The celebration marked the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
Pet owners brought their beloved companions to the cathedral to take part in the celebration, with animals of all shapes and sizes welcomed for blessings. The event offered a joyful reminder of the special bond between people and the animals they share their lives with.
