An 84-year-old woman with dementia was safely rescued in Florida after going missing from her home. Authorities launched a search involving several bloodhound teams.
Indian River County Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Lewis and his K9 partner, Penny, were attending a training course nearby when they joined the search. About 30 hours after the woman was reported missing, Penny helped lead rescuers to her location in a wooded area.
The woman was found in shallow water and was assisted to safety by Deputy Lewis. She was reunited with her family, while Lewis and Penny later returned to Indian River County.
