Libre, the Boston Terrier whose abuse case inspired Pennsylvania’s Libre’s Law, is now competing on the national stage.

Rescued in 2016 severely malnourished and suffering from mange and maggot-infested wounds, Libre made a remarkable recovery. His owner, Sandy Guido, later introduced him to obedience training, where he quickly showed a love for learning and competition.

Libre recently competed in the American Kennel Club Rally National Championship, completing three advanced-level courses and placing 68th out of 117 competitors.

Despite lasting scars and skin allergies, Libre continues to compete locally and inspire others. Since Libre’s Law took effect, more than 72,000 animal-abuse offenses have been filed in Pennsylvania.
