South Carolina has added two specially trained K-9 officers, Rocky and Hunter, to help detect hidden electronic devices that may contain illegal material. They were introduced at the State House on October 16.
Rocky, a Golden Retriever mix, will work in Horry County, while Hunter, a black Labrador, will serve in Greenville. Donated by nonprofit Defenders For Children, both dogs received specialized training to detect devices such as smartphones and hard drives.
The dogs will assist probation agents and law enforcement in searching the homes of supervised sex offenders, helping uncover hidden evidence and strengthen child protection efforts across the state.
