Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, held a special blessing ceremony for its therapy dogs in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
The hospital’s Pet Therapy Program, established in 2013, currently includes six certified therapy dogs and five handlers. The dogs and their handlers are carefully screened and trained to ensure safe visits.
During the ceremony, the therapy dogs received a special blessing for the comfort and companionship they provide. Hospital leaders say the dogs bring joy and emotional support to both patients and staff, making their visits a meaningful part of the hospital experience.
