A husky named Stella is recovering after a near-fatal fall from an I-41 overpass, according to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Stella ran away from her northeast Wisconsin home on March 23 and was later spotted on the interstate, where she jumped about 30 feet onto Shawano Avenue below.
Witnesses alerted authorities, and animal control safely captured her and rushed her to an Appleton emergency veterinary clinic. Although she suffered no broken bones, Stella had severe internal injuries and metal fragments from a suspected gunshot of unknown origin. After major surgery, she is now recovering at the humane society’s Green Bay facility and will be available for adoption once fully healed.
