A Michigan family has been reunited with their dog after five years apart.

Luna, a mixed-breed dog, went missing in 2021 in Midland after escaping from her home, leaving her family searching for years without answers. In 2025, the Humane Society of Midland County (HSoMC) listed a dog for adoption under the name Mary Kate.

Luna’s owner saw the post on Facebook, suspected it was her missing pet, and submitted photos for comparison. After reviewing the evidence, the shelter confirmed the match and reunited Luna with her family in Michigan.
