At Madison STEAM Academy in Indiana, staff are closing out the school year alongside a well-loved member of the school community—an emotional support dog named Truly.
Truly, who has been part of the school for five years, has become a familiar presence on campus, greeting students each morning, joining reading time, and even accompanying them during recess. Teachers say her presence helps foster a calm and supportive learning environment for both students and staff.
Students also describe Truly as a friendly and attentive companion. First graders Joraiya Mayberry and Takia Carver said she is “really kind” and “a really good listener.” School staff say Truly has become more than just a support animal; she is considered part of the school family.
