A North Dakota water damage company has introduced a trained “mold detection dog” named Spore to help identify hidden mold in homes.
The 17-month-old German Wirehaired Pointer, owned by 1-800 Water Damage of North Dakota, was trained to detect mold by scent and signal its findings during inspections. The dog has assisted on about 30 cases, helping pinpoint problem areas not yet visible.
The company says Spore complements traditional testing methods and aims to improve early detection of mold-related issues in homes.
