FDA Issues Recall on Select PEDIGREE Dog Food Over Possible Contamination

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of two lots of PEDIGREE® Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2oz dog food due to potential contamination with metal and plastic foreign material.

Manufacturer Mars Petcare US, Inc. issued a voluntary recall after the affected products originally set for destruction by a third-party vendor—were allegedly fraudulently diverted and sold into the U.S. market. The company is working with authorities to investigate how the products entered distribution.

The recall applies only to lot codes 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC. So far, no illnesses or injuries in pets have been reported.

Pet owners who purchased the affected cans are advised not to feed them to animals and to contact PEDIGREE for a replacement. Consumer inquiries can be directed to PEDIGREE Consumer Care at 1-800-525-5273.
