Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, has welcomed Apollo, a 2-year-old rescue Golden Mountain Dog, as its first certified therapy dog.
Apollo works with Chaplain Brenda Lee to comfort patients and families during difficult hospital stays. He visits those facing stressful treatments and emotional moments and spent more than a year training through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
On his first day, Apollo comforted a grieving family saying goodbye to a loved one. He now visits children, cancer patients and others, helping ease anxiety and bring comfort when they need it most.
