A puppy named Peanut was rescued in Clovis, New Mexico, after being found abandoned on an ant hill and left in critical condition.
Peanut had severe injuries, missing patches of hair and scabs covering her body when Karl Korff, an 85-year-old man discovered her. She was taken to a veterinarian the following day, where she was diagnosed with mange.
Peanut received medical treatment and is now recovering. Her rescue has drawn attention to the importance of animal welfare and the kindness of people willing to help vulnerable animals. Korff is now creating the Peanut Fund to help other sick and abandoned animals receive needed care.
