Firefighters rescued a dog stranded on a cliffside at Ecola State Park on Saturday after it went missing during a hike. The dog had been missing for nearly two hours after becoming frightened and running away from its owners.
Using a police drone, rescue crews located the dog about 100 feet down a steep cliff and deployed a high-angle rope rescue team. A firefighter was lowered to the animal, secured it, and was safely hoisted back to the top despite the dog's movements along the rock face.
The dog was reunited with its owners and suffered only minor scratches, according to the Cannon Beach Fire District.
