Shadow, a 12-year-old certified therapy dog, has reached an impressive milestone: his 1,000th visit to the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
Alongside his handler, Chuck McWilliams, Shadow has spent more than six years bringing comfort and companionship to veterans, patients, and healthcare workers. His visits also extend to nursing homes and first responders, offering emotional support to people experiencing stress and trauma.
Shadow holds the distinction of being West Virginia's first certified first responder therapy dog. Now showing signs of aging, he may be slowing down, but his handler hopes Shadow's remarkable journey will inspire others to follow in his pawprints.
